November 21, 2021
Guest Speaker: Rev. Gordon Gibson
Zoom Service

Join a Virtual Service at GNUUC
Or watch the Zoom service with the CRE parents either in the Outdoor Gazebo area or the Fellowship Hall on the TV. You will still be able to share Joys and Concerns and see Zoom participants. If indoors, you can join us with art activities during the service. If outdoors, the children will be on the playground.

Sometimes when we "hold history" we use it to justify ourselves or put down those who disagree with us. It is far better if we can with our telling of history hold humanity, both our own humanity and that of others in the story. This morning we will be looking at how this has happened in some real stories.

Gordon is a retired Unitarian Universalist minister now living in Knoxville. He has served congregations in Massachusetts, Mississippi, and Indiana. In retirement, he has served as President of the Unitarian Universalist Historical Society and written the Skinner House book 'Southern Witness: Unitarians and Universalists in the Civil Rights Era.' He is a founder and current Board member of the Living Legacy Project, which conducts pilgrimages to civil rights sites and during the pandemic has been producing Zoom webinars.
