Guest speaker Gary White joins us to reflect on: Giving Thanks for What Exactly? – a post-Thanksgiving reflection.
When exhaustion and sadness aren’t enough, we can always rest in the numbness of our despair.
Brief Bio: Gary White
An ordained Unitarian Universalist minister, The Reverend Gary White has served as a religious professional for a variety of agencies and institutions that share in purpose to address the human condition. Some of these include: local community service agencies, hospitals and universities, as well as serving as a part-time parish minister and itinerant speaker. Receiving his certification in International Tour Management, Gary travels the world introducing his clients to various cultures and the histories and traditions that ground them. In turn, he welcomes the world to Nashville as a local tour guide.

To help you prepare, here are the questions we’ll be reflecting on:
How does our Mission, Covenant, and/or Vision of Ministry guide our shared ministry?
Congregational Mission Statement
The transforming power of love is our core belief.
We embody a sanctuary of compassion, integrity, and respect.
We champion justice, equity, and peace.
Congregational Covenant
We covenant together to make a welcoming community,
To walk together in the way of truth and love,
To seek the life of the spirit, as it is known by each person,
To support each other in thought, word, and deed,
As we work to build a better world.
Board Vision of Ministry for this Year
This year we will be a sanctuary where every person is known, fed, and transformed through authentic connection and courageous action.
What is working well in our church community?
What do we need to work on? Where do we feel called to grow?
How do we experience our relationship with Rev. Denise in this shared ministry?
What hopes do you have for our future together?
Is there anything else you would like to share?
If you have any questions, reach out to Kristin R.

This fall we’re offering UU Compass, a multi-generational small group (teens through adults) based on the Starting Point curriculum from Soul Matters.
UU Compass is not a lecture series — it’s an experience.
Together, we’ll practice deep listening, share our personal journeys, and explore Unitarian Universalism as a living path of meaning and connection.
Together we’ll:
Explore Our Journeys – reflect on our own spiritual paths and what brought us here.
Discover Our Tradition – learn the unfolding story of Unitarian Universalism through the lens of healing disconnection.
Build Connections – practice the deep listening and sharing that make small groups so life-giving in UU congregations.
Find Our Next Step – discern how each of us can walk more deeply with this community, whether as a newcomer or a longtime member.
Who is UU Compass for?
Newcomers who want more than information — a real taste of UU community.
Long-time members seeking to reconnect with UU values and practices.
Teens and adults alike, eager to walk together across generations.
Whether you’re brand new or have been here for decades, UU Compass will help you find your bearings, discover companions, and chart the next step of your journey.
