NOAH Public Meeting, Nashville Officials - Racial Disparities in Education

At the Gamaliel National Race and Power Summit in Nashville, NOAH’s education task force steering committee is conducting a public meeting, with metro officials. The action addresses major racial disparities in suspensions of school children, and in school resources. Please attend: Friday, December 6, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, at Laskey building on the Scarritt-Bennett Center campus (map, address). 


At the Gamaliel National Race and Power Summit in Nashville, NOAH’s education task force steering committee is conducting a public meeting. The steering committee, which Doug Luckes is a member of, organized the action and wrote statements by NOAH for the action. Reverend Cynthia Cain and Nancy Colowick are attending the national summit.

Speaking to commit to working with NOAH at this action event will be: a Nashville judge/magistrate, a metro school-board member, a Metro Nashville Education Association leader, leaders from NOAH sister organizations in Memphis and Chattanooga, and two Nashville metro council members. 

Gamaliel is the community organizing international network, which helped in the formation of NOAH, provides consulting and training resources to NOAH. Memphis, Chattanooga, and Knoxville-East-TN, have NOAH sister organizations in the Gamaliel network. The UUA recommends Gamaliel, as a community organizing network. Gamaliel was the organization that Barack Obama worked in.
