A recording of the Palmer Lecture with Rasheedat Fetuga of Gideon’s Army is available, plus ways to help with Gideon’s Army’s mission!

Some of us were able to attend the Palmer Lecture last Saturday, November 21, where we heard Rasheedat Fetuga, founder and CEO of Gideon’s Army, speak on Healing Justice. She described the inspiration driving her life’s work on behalf of children and the ongoing progress in bringing restorative justice practices to MNPS and the community. You can view the presentation here.

If you are interested in volunteering with Gideon’s Army, a volunteer training webinar is being offered on Thursday, December 3, at 4:00pm or 7:00pm.

Things covered in this training:

  • Identifying your volunteer preferences and projects

  • Learning more about the history and mission of Gideon’s Army

  • Recognizing inherited biases and your positionality

  • Understanding the people and the community we serve

  • And much more!

Volunteer training is mandatory for anyone who seeks to work with Gideon’s Army on present or future projects. Register for the December 3rd Training Here!

And finally, we have an opportunity to help brighten Christmas for some of the families in North Nashville (“Out Norf”):

Welcome to the out Norf Pole! This year we are helping Santa pull off Christmas... and we need your help.

Our goal is to provide 1600 new Christmas gifts to families out North. We need your help collecting gifts. We are now accepting new Christmas gifts for children ages 1-18 at GidsCiti (2517 Clarksville Pike) on Tuesdays and Saturdays between 10am - 6pm. If you want to bless a family with gifts, and don't want to go shopping in person, we have created an Amazon Wish List for you. You can purchase gifts from amazon and select "Gideon's Army's Gift Registry Address" when the shipping options come up... and the gifts will arrive to GidsCiti!!

Please make all Christmas gift donations by December 11th.
