NOAH Stars for COVID-19 Victims: Can You Help?
In Tennessee to date, 5000+ of our fellow citizens have died from COVID-19. In all areas of the state, our brothers and sisters continue to suffer.
Jobs for many have shut down or disappeared entirely. Many face eviction from their homes, with no money for rent. Families with children struggle to provide adequate food and health care.
Governor Lee has still refused to issue a mask mandate for the state, even though COVID deaths are TWICE as high in counties with no such mandate.
On November 17, Governor Lee said, βThe strategy we are taking is actually working. . . . may be working better than a mask mandate would.β On that date, 3995 Tennesseans had died of COVID-19. On December 8, that number had climbed to 5,109. As of this writing, the number is 5,615, and eight of the 20 cities with the fastest growing number of cases in the US are in Tennessee.
NOAH is asking that Governor Lee and our state government do the following:
Issue a statewide mask mandate;
Immediately free up the surplus of $740 million in federal TANF funds to help low-income families with children (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families).
ON TUESDAY, DEC. 29, NOAH IS HOLDING A PUBLIC ACTION, CALLING ON GOVERNOR LEE TO TAKE THESE ACTIONS. THIS PUBLIC ACTION WILL PAY TRIBUTE TO LIVES LOST TO COVID-19.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
1. Watch for more info on the ACTION!
2. Help make STARS to be used in this action - one star for each Tennessean who has died - 5000 stars!
We are making these stars:
In memory of those who have died and
In hope for those who survive.
Please let Nancy or Doug know how many stars you are able to make.
An instruction sheet for making the stars is HERE.
