More about donations for Room In The Inn
Although our Share the Plate with Room In The Inn was just for November, there are things which they could use which you might offer. Holiday items like wrapped desserts, a canister of cocoa, a box of greeting cards would be welcome. Those moving in from the streets are provided with a welcome basket containing such things as dishes, utensils, cookware, bathroom supplies, cleaning supplies. Winter hats, scarves, socks, and gloves are a necessity. Thermal underwear, hand warmers, and any clothing which can be "layered" - but all must be new. Washable cloth face masks are now a must. A food bag of non-perishable items could include pop-top canned foods. You could even purchase bus passes or gift cards. There is also a "Wish List" on Amazon of the most-needed items.
You probably have some things you wouldn't mind donating (some of those old dishes and pans? Unused greeting cards? That scarf you never use?), but you don't want to make a trip to the Room In The Inn with an item or three. Maybe by making known that you would collect and make a run, such items could be collected and put to good use. You might find your spirits brighten if you do something for the least of these.
You can also make a direct donation at their web site.
