Take Action! Oppose the appointment of Laurie Cardoza-Moore to the Tennessee Textbook Commission

Recently, House Speaker Cameron Sexton appointed Laurie Cardoza-Moore, a notorious bigot, to the Tennessee Textbook Commission. A diverse group of interfaith leaders in Tennessee are uniting in opposition and asking for her appointment to be rescinded because of her anti-Muslim rhetoric and promotion of false historical narratives. And they are asking us to join them in signing on to their letter.

Cardoza-Moore runs the Franklin-based nonprofit, Proclaiming Justice to the Nations (PJTN), which has been named a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center for its anti-Islam initiatives. She led opposition to the building of the mosque in Murfreesboro, as well as fighting the Islamic Center in New York City. PJTN has had its own “textbook review committee” to identify “bias”, “slants”, and “half-truths” in school textbooks. In one review of a civics textbook, the reviewer asserts, “It is important for the student to understand that the natural rights come from God.”
