Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, 2:00pm: Major NOAH Action for Tennessee’s Students: Day of Power and Prayer

On Sunday, August 15 at 2:00pm CT, NOAH, alongside our sister organizations, MICAH in Memphis and CALEB in Chattanooga, will draw attention to issues adversely impacting Tennessee’s public school students. Show up to support legislation to fund more social workers, more counselors, and more nurses in our schools! This action is both in-person and virtual.

Highlights of the Day of Power and Prayer:

  • Key-note speaker: Diarese George, who holds a Doctorate in Education Leadership, is founder and executive director of the Tennessee Educators of Color Alliance, an organization focused on developing, supporting, and connecting educators of color with decision-making power to shape, create, and influence policy.

  • A call to action to get out the word to the Tennessee General Assembly and Governor Lee about how much we value our children.

  • Other speakers will tell stories about the dire need for nurses, social workers, and counsellors in our schools.

  • We are asking everyone who participates in our in-person events to wear masks and to socially distance for safety.

The DOPP will show broad support for increasing funding to hire additional social workers, nurses and counselors in our schools.

Our Nashville in-person action will be held at McKendree United Methodist Church, located at 523 Church St, Nashville, TN 37219. Parking will be free at the McKendree Church parking garage. (Those leaving after the end of the event will find exit gates up, allowing them to exit without being charged for parking.) Parking is located at 140 6th Avenue N - shown at the bottom of this page: https://mckendreenashville.com
