Update: NOAH Listening Campaign Will Kick Off March 5! Still Time To Join GNUUC’s Listening Team!
NOAH members are embarking on a new Listening Campaign to learn more about the “hearts and minds” issues in our community. This process identifies issues and develops our organizations. GNUUC, a member of NOAH, will be participating in the Listening Campaign, strengthening our congregation by having one-on-one conversations about members' deepest concerns.
Every four years or so, NOAH conducts a Listening Campaign among its member organizations. The purpose is twofold: to help determine the focus of NOAH over the next three to four years, as well as to strengthen the member organizations themselves, as relationships are deepened through conversations around individuals’ concerns. Listeners in each member organization are trained by NOAH in how to conduct these one-on-one conversations in a way that reveals not just what a person cares about at an intellectual level, but what keeps them up at night, what the issues are that concern their loved ones and themselves, what their hopes are for the future. If you’d like to join GNUUC’s team of listeners, there will be an online make-up training on March 5, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm.
From these conversations with congregation members, our listeners will compile the issues that emerged, tally them, and then bring GNUUC’s top issues (no more than 10) back to NOAH. NOAH will then take the issues that arose from all the member organizations and categorize them into issue areas, settling on a final slate of about ten issue areas. This slate will be the “candidate” issue areas that all member organizations will be able to vote on at our Issues Convention, to take place on May 21 (new date). The top issue areas will determine what task forces NOAH will have for the next three or four years. We will have a vote for each person from GNUUC who attends the convention, up to 25, so save the date now and be sure to attend with GNUUC!
