April Share the Plate is Homeland Heart Collective
At Homeland Heart Collective, the core mission is to promote and protect maternal, perinatal, and infant health among women, infants, and families of color. Homeland Heart serves as a sanctuary for birth workers and families before, during, and after pregnancy.
Black Maternal Health Week is recognized annually on April 11-17th. In the United States, black mothers are 3 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes, and black infants are twice are likely to die before their first birthdays than white women and infants, respectively. Tennessee is ranked 39th in maternal mortality. Our support of Homeland Heart Collective during the month of April helps make a positive change for Nashville families.
