Our April Share the Plate Partner: Unitarian Universalist Ministry for Earth

Unitarian Universalist Ministry for Earth envisions a world in which reverence, gratitude, and care for each other and for the living Earth are central to the lives of all people. Its mission is to be a wellspring of spiritual and educational grounding and practical support for bold, accountable action for environmental justice, climate justice, and the flourishing of all life.

Core Values

  • Faith and Spirituality: UUMFE is grounded in the Seven Principles of Unitarian Universalism as well as the proposed 8th Principle, “journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.” Climate Justice is a moral imperative.

  • Environmental Justice: UUMFE affirms and promotes the framework of race- and class-informed environmental justice and strives to center the leadership and needs of frontline communities.

  • Partnership and Collective Action: UUMFE invests in partnership and collective action to enact system-wide change required to protect and restore Earth’s web of life.

UU Ministry for Earth Provides:

  • Leadership - through an ongoing partnership with the Unitarian Universalist Association to strengthen and grow UU Climate Justice ministries to the scale required;

  • Inspiration - through worship materials and guest sermons, exciting resources, and amazing stories of UU action for Climate and Environmental Justice;

  • Education - through the “Environmental Justice Practitioners Network” webinar series, in-person workshops, Religious Education curriculum, and curated online resources;

  • Activation - through amplifying calls to action, raising UU visibility and turnout at mass mobilizations, & engaging UUs in ongoing campaigns and solidarity with partner organizations;
