NOAH Selects Task Force Issue Areas!
Last Saturday, delegates from NOAH member organizations gathered for the Issues Convention, at which they would select the issue areas on which NOAH will focus over the next several years. Following two-minute speeches in support of each of the eight proposed issue areas, voting commenced. After four rounds of voting, the following were chosen: Affordable Housing, Education, Economic Equity and Jobs, and Transportation. At the end of the Convention, individuals signed up to join the task forces formed around these issue areas.
A big thank you to everyone who helped GNUUC participate in this process: those who said yes when asked to have a one-on-one conversation with one of our Listeners, those who came to our Reflection Meeting to review what we learned from our conversations about people’s greatest concerns for themselves and for Nashville, and, finally, those who came with us to the Issues Convention. We had 11 folks from GNUUC turn out last Saturday, exceeding our goal of 10!
If you are interested in joining one of the NOAH task forces, or even just dropping in to check them out, let Nancy C or Doug L know. No special knowledge or expertise is required to join – just a passion for the issues! At this time, task force meetings are still being held virtually.
