Virtual Service Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021: Rev. Cynthia Cain, "Imagining a World"

  • Greater Nashville UU Congregation 374 Hicks Rd. Nashville, TN 37064 (map)

This Sunday 1/31, Rev. Cynthia will be joined by a guest, Michelle Benzamin-Miki, one of her Buddhist teachers from almost 25 years ago with whom she has reconnected during the pandemic via online meditation and discussion several times a week.

Michelle and her partner Caitriona Reed own Manzanita Village, a beautiful retreat and wilderness space on the high desert of Southern California. Rev. Cain first worked with them when she ministered in Riverside.

At their website, you can see photos of and read more about Manzanita Village and their work. They are dear friends with Joanna Macy and were both ordained by Thich Nhat Hanh. In addition, Michelle is an artist, a highly rated Aikido instructor, and has worked with inmates in the juvenile detention system as well as with indigenous tribes. Her artwork is displayed here:

She will focus on the imagination and how it informs her art and activism. Bring your questions!
