Hey GNUUC. We're trying something new for our 5th Sunday in August.

Rather than having our regular on line Sunday Service, we're planning a community service project. This gives us the opportunity to put our core principles into action by serving our community.

On August 29th instead of being virtually with each other, we'll have a "service Sunday." We'll gather at GNUUC at 10 a.m. until our service project is complete.

Metro Nashville Public Schools serves 700 students who don't have housing, and they need our help to have necessary school supplies. MNPS has the backpacks, they'd like us to fill the pencil boxes to go in the backpacks.

Supplies needed for each pencil box are:
Hard plastic pencil box
2 glue sticks
1 pack of 24 count crayons
1 pair kids scissors
10 pencils

And for our own special touch, we'll be adding a note of support and encouragement to tuck in with the supplies.

There should be some great sales in the next couple weeks. Please purchase what you are able, or if you are the artistic type, please work on creating the cards to tuck inside.

If you'd like to be part of the assembly process, bring the items with you to the church at 10 a.m. on August 29. If you aren't able to join us, Jennie and Thena are glad to coordinate picking up your donations.

For those gathering to put the pencil boxes together, we'll be outside, masked, following board policy guidelines for outside gatherings.

We hope to see you for this wonderful community project. This does mean we will not be having an online zoom service.
