Meeting Notice:

Members of several UU Tennessee congregations have been meeting monthly for the last year and a half to discuss various issues and how we could act together as UU churches in Tennessee.  Up until now, there has been no formal structure to this group, and we feel it's time to discern what we will be.  Are we a loose confederation or do we want to become an official UU State Action Network?

We already have members from 8 congregations coming - imagine what we can create if we could have all 14 of our communities present and planning!

Join us at our retreat (in-person or online!) on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm EST / 9:00 am- 2:00pm CST as we ground in community and discuss our next steps.  This retreat is hosted by Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville and will be in-person and on Zoom.  You do not have to have attended one of our previous monthly meetings to come to the retreat!

Specifically, we would like to accomplish the following:

Brainstorm why it is important for us to work together as a group of UU churches in Tennessee, and what we could accomplish together that we cannot do on our own.

Discuss various issues that we could work together on, either for advocacy purposes or for our own internal growth and development as UU congregations, and come up with specific recommendations to take back to our congregations.

Talk about possible areas of collaboration between different churches; such as sharing resources, holding joint events, or bringing together special interest support groups, like a UU BIPOC group for East Tennessee.

Agree on what form our organization will take; i.e., an action network or confederation; and relationship with the UUA.
