Thurs., Feb. 3, 2022 at 6:30pm: A Community Response to Mental Health Crisis: From CAHOOTS to Nashville HEALS

THURSDAY, FEB. 3, at 6:30 PM

Across the country, community leaders are recognizing that police are not the best suited to safely and effectively help people experiencing behavioral health crises. Nationally and in Nashville, such calls to police have resulted in injury and even death to those needing help. Community responder programs improve health outcomes, reduce unnecessary arrests, and save lives.

CAHOOTS in Eugene, Oregon, is a nationally-recognized community responder program where mental health crisis workers and medics respond to 911 calls instead of law enforcement. CAHOOTS teams intervene and make referrals to health and social services without the uniforms, sirens, and handcuffs that can increase distress for people in crisis.

NOAH and the Behavioral Health Foundation have developed "Nashville HEALS,"

based on the CAHOOTS model. This webinar will be moderated by David

Plazas, Tennessean Opinion and Engagement Director, and will feature:

  • A detailed explanation of the CAHOOTS model by Tim Black, CAHOOTS director of consulting

  • Responses from the Nashville community and government leaders

  • Questions from attendees

Don't miss this unique chance to hear about this nationally-known program!
