Make a Plan for Voting! Only 55 Days to Go!
The deadline to register to vote in the November 3 election is October 5. To register or update your registration online, go here. (You must have voted in person at least one time or registered in person at the Davidson County Election Commission, in order to vote absentee.) To make sure you have not been purged, check your registration status. Early voting will start on October 14 and run through October 29. If you plan to vote in person, go early!
If you plan to vote absentee, now is the time to request your ballot. For Davidson County voters, absentee ballot request forms can be found here. Just print one out, complete it, and return it either by snail mail or email. Do it today! If you don’t have access to a printer, you can also call 615-862-8815 to have an absentee ballot request form mailed to you.
Voters with underlying medical conditions that put them at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19 may use the reason “You are hospitalized, ill or physically disabled and unable to appear at your polling place to vote.” A doctor’s statement is not required. Likewise, voters caring for someone with underlying medical conditions that put them at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19 can vote by mail. No doctor note required. Just check the reason stating “caretaker of a hospitalized, ill or physically disabled person”.
Ballots will be mailed out in mid-September. When you receive your ballot, fill it out immediately and mail it back using either the USPS or some other mail service. Although state law does not permit the use of drop boxes, Davidson Co. voters CAN take their ballot envelope to the 901 Broadway Post Office station (at the Frist) and give it to a postal clerk. The clerk will drop the envelope in the Election Commission’s box, located at this station. They pick up their mail daily, so if you have concerns about your ballot getting lost in the mail, this may be your safest option. You can track your ballot here.
This election is critical. Don’t drop the ball! Take action now!
