This fall we are offering a four Sunday Faith Formations class on the Bhagavad Gita facilitated by Rev. Cynthia Stewart.
The Bhagavad Gita is one of the great sacred texts of the Sanatana Dharma (Hinduism) and of the world, and yet it is only 18 chapters (700 verses) long. It is the text that inspired Gandhi in his quest for justice in India. In this 4-part series, we will look at the Gita in relation to violence and non-violence, the paths of yoga, and knowledge of the divine within. I will provide copies of specific passages we will be reading; any translations you have are welcome also. In book form I recommend the Easwaran translation, and online there is a good version by Koti & Hari at newbhagavadgita.blogspot.com.
Classes start on September 8, 2019 and will be on the 2nd Sundays: 9:30 - 10:30 AM in the RE Building main room.
All are welcome!
Facilitator: Rev. Cynthia Stewart
