Saturday, May 11, 2019: People as Populations, Politics and Prophets: Migrant and Refugee Populations in the Greater Nashville Area

  • Greater Nashville UU Congregation 374 Hicks Rd. Nashville, TN 37221 (map)

Please join us for an informational and inspirational workshop on the current state of immigration to Nashville, Tennessee, and the United States. The workshop, sponsored by the Social Action Committee, will be held at GNUUC on Saturday, May 11, from 9:00am to 1:00pm. It is free and open to the public.

A panel of speakers, including members of Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS), Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) and others, will inform attendees about:

  • the conditions migrants and asylees are fleeing,

  • the current paths to US entry,

  • laws and legislation affecting immigration, and

  • opportunities to directly support the local immigrant community.

Following the panel of speakers, we will put the “work” in workshop. Discussion, facilitated by Mary Early-Zald, PhD, MDiv, will explore individual spiritual, philosophical and political thinking around immigrant rights and ways individuals and groups can connect with and support the local immigrant population.
Come to learn, come to activate your mind and heart, come to be inspired! We look forward to seeing you all!!
