September Soul Matters Theme: What does it mean to be a people of Renewal?

Our faith asks us to continually renew and recommit ourselves to our church community. It also reminds us that religious community is a primary source of renewal for human beings. So what’s one of the ways our faith guides us into becoming a people of renewal? It tells us to “Recommit yourself to your church community and let your church community nourish your spirit!”

First Sundays are Inter-generational Services. During these Sundays, adults, children, and youth participate in the service. These services are specifically designed to be all age friendly and often involve stories, media, age-appropriate songs, and interactive content. This year each inter-generational service will be an introduction to the monthly Soul Matters theme.

This year we have something really fun planned. The parents, children, and youth will be learning about the Soul Matters theme on Saturday and recording segments for the worship service on Sunday. Since children will be involved, we will not be recording the inter-generational service or posting it on YouTube. You’ll have to log in via zoom to participate.

To get to the Zoom service, if you are on a computer, tablet or smartphone with Zoom installed: Click Here.

If you would like to participate in the interactive elements of this service from home, bring a pitcher of water and a bowl, vase, potted plant, or other “water recipient” vessel to your zoom session.

Also think about the following this week in preparation for Sunday’s service:

Drought/Scarcity - we will share water that reminds us that while some have abundance, others struggle in scarcity.

Travel/Change - we will share water that symbolizes travel, movement and change.

Concerns/Worries - we will share water that reminds us of life’s storms: our concerns, worries, frustrations and losses.

Joys/Wellsprings - we will share water that represents the wellsprings of your life: the water that sustains you when you are feeling empty, the joys that give you hope and buoy you up.
