Welcome to Children's RE - Join Us!

Welcome to Children’s RE in Fall 2024! This year, some Sundays are multi-generational services, some Sundays are “Wiggle Room” Sundays, and once a month we have “Soul Matters” Children’s religious education for children and youth.

Fall 2024 Soul Matters Sundays: September 22, October 20, November 17, December 15.

We hope to see you!

We will offer 2 classes:

11 AM - noon: Rainbow Kids: PreK to 6th: Taught by Tina with Gina. This class will use Soul Matters Elementary curricula.

11 AM - 1 PM: Coming of Age Youth: Teens: Facilitated by Kristin with Nathaniel B. This class will use Soul Matter’s Becoming Coming of Age curricula. Youth will start in class and then break for potluck, bringing their lunch back into class. In later sessions mentors will join us for lunch!

Children's RE: Summer Fun Sundays Start June 5!

Children and Youth: Join us during Children’s RE from June 5 through August 10 for Summer Fun RE!

What are Summer Fun Sundays?

During Summer Fun Sundays we combine the children's RE classes into a single multi-age group. We ask for parent and teacher volunteers to sponsor a Sunday and come up with fun UU-friendly activities to do for the children. Activities could be as simple as "free play indoors or outdoors" or there could be a planned lesson or activity.

CRE: Onsite Summer Fun Sundays: June 27, July 18, August 8, August 29

Children's RE is returning to onsite summer fun Sundays in June! Children's RE is returning to onsite summer fun Sundays! CRE will be outdoors. CRE will be from 10:15 - 11:00. Then the children and youth will attend service virtually through the Time for All Sages. Then, they will play on the playground while parents live stream the service. The dates we have chosen are June 27, July 18, August 8, and August 29! For details see the Events calendar for specific dates.

GNUUC will begin discussing Ibram X. Kendi’s book, How to be an Anti Racist this Fall. For the first meeting, September 6th, 1:00-2:00 pm, please read the first 4 chapters. Building Beloved Community Covenant Group

GNUUC's Building Beloved Community Covenant Group kicks off a new year with two new sources for discussion and reflection: * 1619 Project from the Pulitzer Foundation and White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism by Professor Robin DiAngelo. Both are powerful resources as we seek to grow as beloved community. All are welcome.
